Great service and food! Been here twice now and got the chicken philly which is off the hook. Friendly staff and you can tell its a place a lot of locals like to frequent. I like the he mix of an old wooden bar and diner style furniture. Great hang out.

Even tho I always leave Hot City Pizza smelling a little like onions and cheese, I do love love love me some Paisano. and some Pizza. and some South Philly Style Sandwiches. We usually hit the Hot City after far to many beers on Friday, and then we hit the couch. It's the deliciously greasy best of everything you could want from a meat-and-marinara-obsessed sandwich. Oh and you can get a GIANT fountain coke to wash it all down. It's making me hungry just thinking about it (and there's nary a hangover in sight)... You should hit it this weekend.

Great pizza and even better service. Staff is super friendly and attentive. St. Paul crust is delicious, especially when you dip it in a side of red sauce.

This place is alright at best. The food I got was good I will say that. The prices for their pizza is higher than some of the other choices nearby. The inside of this place needs to be updated. They use pizza boxes and hand written descriptions to display some of their specials and menu and it looks REALLY tacky. Get your food to-go. Overall, I would go back. I would not spend the money for their pizza though. The hot sandwiches and garlic bread was fair priced and it tasted good. Parking is adequate too. Not too much else to say for this place. The service was OK also.

A consistent alternative to the more popular and trendy Red Savoy's, Pizza Luce, Casetta's, Punch, etc. We love the City Special pizza at Hot City. We have also been happy with the oven hot sandwiches. The seating area is very spartan -- probably could use an update if the desire is to attract customers to eat in house. We find it more comfortable to enjoy Hot City's good food in the comfort of our own home. The wings are a disappointment -- obviously from frozen -- I am guessing Tyson.

For under 6 bucks you can get one of their Paisanos, which are a nice break from Subway, which is just across the street. Pizzas, Phiily Cheesesteaks Sandwiches, Calzones look like they are also popular items. The place looks like it started out as a pizza delivery company and then added on enough room put up some tables and serve food via little plastic baskets - don't get me wrong - it hits the spot but it kind of feels like you're eating in the ordering room of a pizza delivery joint - that being said - I eat here regularly and will continue to do so.

They make the best pizza around. They have specialty white pizza's that are excellent. They deliver around the immediate area and I can honestly say I have never had food from hot city that I didn't like.

Being new to the neighborhood, we've been searching for a go-to basic pizza delivery place. Based upon the pizza we had delivered to us tonight (the only time I've had their food), I can recommend Hot City. Although I like thin crust pizza, we ordered the "St. Paul crust." It's a hand-tossed style crust, and it's substantial. When the delivery person dropped off the za, the first thing I noticed was how heavy the box was. This is some dense pizza! It's a bready and doughy crust, but it is tasty and has a very good texture and flavor (not tasteless like some of the national chain pizza places). The toppings were just right, and they were in proper balance with the tomato sauce and cheese. This isn't the best pizza around, but it's really quite good. I recommend it.

I ordered the coney island (hot dog with chili, extra for cheese on a poppyseed hotdog bun), rib tips served with a half order of garlic toast, and a chocolate chip cookie. The coney was good, and arrived hot, which is always dicey when ordering a wiener-based sandwich, in my opinion. I did make a note that I wanted it hot, even if they had to overcook it. The rib tips were . . . not my favorite. The sauce was good, but the quality of the meat was questionable. Flavorwise, it could have been either beef or pork and I wouldn't have known the difference. The garlic toast was okay, but not enough butter and not enough garlic flavor. The cookie was stale and hard. Certainly not worth almost two bucks. I took one bite and threw it away. I probably won't order from here again.

The pizza itself was pretty good and had lots of cheese - which I always appreciate. However, I honestly think the prices are a little ridiculous for extra toppings. We ordered 2 medium pizzas. We arrive there and they made 2 LARGE pizzas! So we end up having to pay more and have way more food than we wanted. Also on one of the pizzas they added an extra topping to half of it. We checked the receipt and nothing was on there so it must have been a mistake. Just like them ringing us up for large pizzas instead of mediums! Figure it out - it's pizza - it shouldn't be that difficult.

Best hot hoagies in town and great pizza! My first indication that this place is something special was when my wife and I noticed that the St. Paul cops stopped here all time time. We used to own a rental nearby so we drove by frequently. Cops know the best places to eat! I've eaten here many, many times and I can say with confidence that these guys make some of the BEST hot hoagies in the Twin Cities. Maybe even THE best hoagies. The pizza is very good too. I'm not a huge fan of their signature white pizza sauce...but it's interesting. This is a no bullshit place. No frills, no fancy crap. Just good food. As a side note, it always cracks me up so see a couple Asian dudes rock the Italian food. Apparently, they purchased the place from the original Italian owners. But the new guys whip out the Italian fare with the best of them. They're also super friendly. Thumbs up! -Daddy Maxx Retro

Delicious! Place was clean and the staff was friendly. You can tell the place has been there a long time & you can definitely tell why! I had a Greek salad, kids had pepperoni pizza & hubby had a Philly cheesesteak. All of it was great!

I remember this place being good and guess what, it's even better than I remember! They have a wide selection of toppings and offerings. I love their pizza and will have to come back for their hoagies and calzones.

The salads aren't that great, they use the vegetables & toppings for pizza and sandwiches. But Pizza is bomb, the white veggies was awesome. I'd order again

If you're reading these reviews, you have to realize that the only reason people don't give Hot City five stars is that they have no clue what the real deal is. Hot City is it. You want good food at a good price, and fast? Don't expect a bunch of flash and nonsense. This is reality, and it is good. If you're from Philly or another East Coast city and miss good hoagies you just have to go here. Do it. Now. And write a review that isn't all prissy, please.

Really tasty pizza with a friendly staff. Their white pizzas are awesome and their specialty pizzas aren't bad either. Of course, price is king on the west end and they offer a solid product at a good price. Pro tip: mention their online coupon and you'll save a few bucks. Works every time. ;)

Well, all good things come to an end. After decades of eating here and previously giving a five-star review I am now moving on to a new pizza place. Recently I did an order of an Original White Pizza-my absolute favorite. Right away when I opened the box I knew something was off. Instead of the golden-brown crust I was accustomed to, the crust was light beige. Upon further inspection I noticed that the bottom of the crust had dozens of tiny holes in it-a process bakers and pizza makers use known as "docking" which keeps a crust from rising when blind-baked. This means that they are now pre-making the crusts in a moderate oven and then adding toppings when ordered. Which means that the crust no longer has their trademarked, thin cracker-like quality. One bite proved that the quality was no longer there-though the toppings tasted exactly the same. The crust was now dry and lousy...barely better than a frozen pizza and not even as good as Domnio's or Papa John's, both of which have lousy toppings but at least bake their crusts to order from fresh dough. If this is how they are now choosing to make their product, they will no longer count me as a loyal customer. And I am not the kind of person who has one bad experience in decades of patronage and then writes a business off. However, a week before I had this experience I was chastised by a co-worker who I had recommended Hot City Pizza to. He told me that both he and his girlfriend thought it was "terrible." I thought they were both just being "pizza snobs," but now I have an idea of what they experienced. Hello Red's Savoy, Black Sheep, Cossetta and Carbone's! My former Hot City Bucks will now be your cold cash. But what a great loss of what used to be a local gem.
